It takes me places I never would have visited otherwise. Not that I’ve taken that many caches, but both my kids and myself really enjoyed the ones we took today.
One of the caches was just above an old cave.
People probably lived here thousands of years ago. I like to think about that. I like to touch the rough surface of the stone, knowing that in a distant time, another girl probably touched the same stone. She was borne, lived her life and died in this area. She had thoughts and dreams, lived through events that were important to her, but that we know nothing about - thousands of years later. But - by placing my fingers on the red rock, I can reach through the centuries, gently touching her memory.
